The first thing we do when starting this unit is to define what FICTION really is. Children come up with many ideas which include:
The second lesson consists of exploring the author Kevin Henkes's books. We review many books which we have already read and look at a mini book set from Kevin Henkes. We then take time to study the main character Lily. She is in a few of his books and has a strong personality! The web to the right shows our work.
