Welcome back to another school year! We had a great year last year with more than 13,000 checkouts. We are excited to be back and have a few library procedures to share with you.
All students attend library class on the same day each week. During their class, students have a lesson, checkout time and reading time. Students are expected to bring their books back on library day. Some students choose to return books early, but library day is our expectation.
Library books are checked out for one week. If a student wants to renew a book for another week, they must bring it with them to the library.
If a student forgets all their books on library day, they cannot check out new books or participate in checkout time. Please help your students to remember to bring their books on their library day, even if they are just renewing them.
Any student with overdue books on library day is given a slip with the title of the missing book(s) to take home. A few tips for parents:
· If you can’t find the book at your house, it could be in the classroom (and often is)
· If a book is missing, before going through your whole house you might consider looking up a picture of the cover on Amazon.com with your child. Viewing the cover goes a long way in remembering not just what the book is but where it is. This particularly helps to remind students if the book is part of a series, which isn’t always evident from the title.
Finally, please mark your calendars: The book fair will be from Nov. 8-11 this year, during teacher conference week. Thank you for your care in these matters and for your support of the library. Please feel free to contact us with any questions at firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com or to call the library.
