iWalk iBike iBus to school day is tomorrow, Wednesday, June 8th!
-Dress appropriately for a cool morning.
-Don't forget to wear a helmet.
-Make sure your bike is in good working order
-Communicate with your family where to go at the end of the day and don't change the plan.
-Parents are encouraged to participate with their child.
Field Day: Monday 1:00-3:00
Students will be participating with their community groups that have met throughout the school year. It is such a nice way for the kids to get to know each other k-5.
Please make sure your children wear clothes and shoes for being active (flip flops etc. will be difficult to participate in). Hopefully the weather will cooperate and we can be outside. If it is too rainy, we will make the best of indoor field day, rotating around the classrooms. If you are interested in helping with field day, email Kim Hunt.
Report cards: Look for your child's final report card in his or her folder next Monday. I will also include end of the year testing data and other classroom assessments. I think it’s best to give in one pile so you don’t miss anything.
Additional suggestions for summer:
Children should read daily to maintain fluency. The DIBELS fluency benchmark is increased from 40 to 45 words per minute in the fall of second grade.
Children should write 2 or 3 days a week. I am sending home journals on Thursday that they can continue to fill up over the summer.
Check out the end of year newsletter from Everyday Math. It has great suggestions for supporting your child’s math skills at home.
Math fact practice for those that are not fluent. (Check report card for a secure in math facts.)
Remember that EDM has an online game site that your child has access to.
